Oct19,2022 | MEENU GALHOTRA | ludhianaPAU HOLDS TRAINING AND EXPOSURE VISIT FOR FARM WOMEN AND SCHOOL STUDENTS As many as 31 farmers, farm women and youths participated in the training course on “Delicious Recipes from Cereals (Pasta and Noodles)” organised by the Skill Development Centre, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) today under the guidance of Dr Ashok Kumar, Director of Extension Education. In his welcome remarks, Dr Kuldeep Singh, Associate Director (Skill Development), said that with the changing lifestyle, dietary patterns are also changing. In view of this, this course was conducted, wherein the experts of food science and technology imparted practical training in the making various food items using cereals, he added. Dr Rupinder Kaur, Course Coordinator, informed that the food technologists demonstrated and highlighted the importance of making of multigrain flour, extruded snacks, bakery snacks, pasta and noodles. The trainees also visited the Food Industry Business Incubation Centre at PAU for hands-on-training, she said. Meanwhile, 125 students of Anand Ishwar School, Khotey Pona, tehsil Jagraon, district Ludhiana, visited Skill Development Centre at PAU wherein Dr Rupinder Kaur informed them about the role and activities of the Centre in making the rural community self-employed and in agri-development of Punjab. Students could opt for agriculture after completing their schooling due to diversity in this field and allied enterprises, she advised. Students also visited the Museum of Soil Science, and Museum of Rural Life and Social History of Punjab in the University.
