Aug31,2022 | MEENU GALHOTRA | ludhianaPAU STUDENT BAGS SENIOR RESEARCH FELLOWSHIP FROM INDIAN COUNCIL OF MEDICAL RESEARCH Mr Potdar Pratik Pandit, a Ph.D. scholar in the Department of Processing and Food Engineering, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), has been awarded the prestigious Senior Research Fellowship by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) for pursuing his Ph.D. with a monthly stipend of ₹ 35,000/- plus HRA and an annual contingency of ₹ 20,000/-. His research is focused on ‘Development of paddy straw based bio-composite packaging material for fresh produce’, under the guidance of Dr. Preetinder Kaur, Principal Scientist, Department of Processing and Food Engineering, PAU. Dr. Preetinder Kaur informed that the research aims to develop an alternative paddy straw based bio-composite packaging material that would be eco-friendly, compostable, rigid and moisture resistant which is a small step towards valorization of agricultural residues into valuable products. Preliminary trials for development of this material have shown promising results. Dr. Ashok Kumar, Dean, College of Agricultural Engineering and Technology, Dr. Sandeep Bains, Dean, Post Graduate Studies and Dr Shammi Kapoor, Registrar congratulated the student for the achievement. Dr. Tarsem Chand Mittal, Senior Extension Engineer-cum-Head, Department of Processing and Food Engineering extended his best wishes to the student.
