Visionary Industrial House to Support PAU Initiative
Nov22,2022 | MEENU GALHOTRA |In a bid to tap the core driver for crystallizing the ‘Clean and Green PAU Campus’ drive of Punjab Agricultural University, the Vice-Chancellor, Dr Satbir Singh Gosal held parleys with Mr. Onkar Singh Pahwa, Chairman and Managing Director of Avon Cycles Pvt. Ltd. Mr. Rishi Singh Pahwa, MD of Avon Cycles, also accompanied the Chairman. Dr Gosal informed that the University is working on the master plan to revamp its old structures and refurbish the open areas. The six-decade old institution requires regular upgrades to stay relevant and be of service to the society, he explained. The academia-industry collaborations can help achieve the goal of value and wealth creation for both the partners. While academia will benefit from access to funding, the industry will get exposure to cutting-edge technology along with fulfilling CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) initiatives, he emphasized. Mr. O.S. Pahwa stated that his Company’s CSR programme is inspired by the opportunity to contribute towards sustainable future and its nourishment. The corporate inclusivity with an educational institution fosters an environment to build employable assets, and subsequently, propel the nation into a growth trajectory. As an integral part of the business enterprise, Avon Cycles would always contribute to make substantial improvements in the social framework of Ludhiana community, he promised. Enumerating the focus areas of the Company’s CSR plan, Mr. R.S. Pahwa disclosed that their initiatives span ensuring environmental sustainability, conservation of natural resources, protection of national heritage, art and culture, setting up public libraries, contribution to recognized universities and research houses and much more. Both the parties agreed for a few more sessions to discuss PAU’s roadmap for Clean and Green Campus drive and decide the quantum of support that the company will provide. The industrialist-duo promised to donate two e-rickshaws for commuting within the university without causing air or noise pollution. It may be noted that they had donated two e-rickshaws to PAU in 2018 too. Dr. R.I.S. Gill, Estate Officer of PAU, Dr V.S. Hans, Chief Engineer and Dr Vishal Bector, Professor, Farm Machinery and Power Engineering, were also present during the interaction.
